Umran Malik, the talented fast bowler from Kashmir, is probably the fastest bowler in Indian cricket.

While bowling for SRH in 2021 and this year’s IPL, Umran has impressed cricket fans worldwide.

So, here we have listed down 14 interesting facts about Umran Malik

1) On 22 November 1999, Umran Malik was born at Gujjar Nagar in Jammu city, Jammu and Kashmir

2) Umran’s father Abdul Rashid is a fruit seller while his mother is a homemaker

3) From an early age, he was interested in playing cricket but failed to achieve professional cricket training due to his family’s adverse financial condition

4) Financially weak, he dropped out of school in class X to financially support his family

5) In his early days in cricket, Umran played tennis ball cricket matches for Rs 500 or 1000

Playing with the tennis ball, increased his pace and temperament, but he was still very raw and without any formal training

6) At the age of 17, he joined the cricket coaching camp of the District Sports Council, and that was the place where his mentoring began.

As a young talent, his raw pace and the ability to bowl the heavy ball impressed Randhir Manas, a cricket coach at the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council

7) In his initial days, Umran was very casual about the game and was very irregular in the nets

But his coach Randhir Manas always hold his back and eventually he became serious about his game

8) Umran Malik failed to make it to the Jammu and Kashmir’s U-19 cricket team

This decision was criticized by Umran’s coach and former Indian wicket-keeper Ajay Ratra.

9) On 27 February 2021, Umran Malik made his List-A debut for Jammu and Kashmir against Bengal in Kolkata

10) In September 2021, Malik was named as a replacement to T.Natarajan for SRH in the 2021 IPL

On 3 October 2021, Umran Malik made his IPL debut for SRH against KKR in Dubai and became the fourth J&K cricketer to play in the IPL

11) On 6 October 2021, in the match between SRH and RCB, he impressed all cricket fans by hitting 150 kph consistently

12) Umran was a net bowler for the Indian cricket team for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

13) On 23 November 2021, Umran Malik made his first-class debut for India A against South Africa A at the Mangaung Oval stadium in Bloemfontein

14) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) retained him for INR 4 crores in the IPL 2022 auction
