1) On 6 December 1994, Shreyas Iyer was born in Chembur, Mumbai in India.

2) He is a Mangalorean Tuluva and his ancestors were originally from Thrissur, Kerala.

3) Shreyas studied in Don Bosco High School, Matunga, and was a student in Ramniranjan Anandilal Poddar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai.

4) At 18, Shreyas was spotted by Pravin Amre at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana

5) His teammates at age-group cricket used to compare his batting style to Virender Sehwag

6) In 2014, during a trip to the UK, Iyer played for the Trent Bridge Cricket Team and scored 297 runs in three matches

He averaged 99 with the highest score of 171, a new team record.

7) Shreyas Iyer made his List A debut for Mumbai in the 2014–15 Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored 273 runs in that tournament at an average of 54.60.

8) Iyer made his first-class debut in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy and scored 809 runs in that Ranji season at an average of 50.56, including two centuries.

9) In February 2015, Iyer became the highest-earning uncapped player in the IPL, as Delhi Daredevils bought him for a record 2.6 crores in that auction

10) In the 2015 IPL, Shreyas scored 439 runs off 14 matches and became the Emerging Player of 2015 IPL

11) Shreyas was the top run-scorer in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy (1,321 runs) and also became the second cricketer to score 1,300 runs in a single edition of the Ranji Trophy tournament

12) On 18 December 2019, against the West Indies, Shreyas Iyer scored 31 runs in a single over, the most by an Indian batsman in a single over in ODIs

13) On 5 February 2020, against New Zealand, Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden century in ODI cricket (103 off 107 balls)

Unfortunately, his effort didn’t bore fruit as India lost the match to New Zealand by four wickets

14) Shreyas Iyer is the first Delhi Capitals’ captain to lead the team to the IPL finals in the 2020 IPL, where they lost to Mumbai Indians by five wickets

15) In March 2021, Shreyas was signed by Lancashire for the 2021 season of the Royal London One-Day Cup

16) In November 2021, he scored a maiden test century against New Zealand and became the 16th Indian player to score a century on test debut
