Shivam Mavi, the right-arm fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh, is one of the most promising new talents in Indian cricket.

Equally comfortable bowling with both old and the new ball, Mavi has impressed cricket fans worldwide.

So, here we have listed down 11 interesting facts about Shivam Mavi.

1) On 26 November 1998, Shivam Mavi was born in Noida in Uttar Pradesh

2) At the age of 8, Shivam started training under coach Phoolchand Sharma in his cricket academy

3) Mavi grew up in Meerut, the famous city that produced fast bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Praveen Kumar.

But unlike Bhuvneshwar and Praveen, who were primarily swing bowlers, Mavi is more of a seam bowler

4) He used to idolize South African legend Dale Steyn and even modeled his initial bowling action upon Steyn

5) Mavi represented Uttar Pradesh’s U-14, U-16, and U-17 sides and got noticed by former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly recommended his name, and Mavi got selected for the 2018 U-19 world cup.

6) Mavi, in this tournament, impressed everyone with his serious pace and helped the Indian U-19 team win the 2018 U-19 world cup

7) He was picked by KKR for a groundbreaking INR 3 crores in the 2018 IPL Auction

On 14 April 2018, Mavi made his IPL debut for KKR but only managed to pick five wickets in that IPL season.

8) On 27 August 2018, Shivam Mavi made his List-A debut for India A against South Africa A at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru

In September 2018, Mavi picked up a hat-trick for Uttar Pradesh against Saurashtra on the opening day of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

9) On 1 November 2018, Mavi made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh against Goa in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy

In his second first-class match, he took his maiden Five-wicket haul (5-68) against Odisha.

10) He picked 11 wickets in the 2021 IPL, including a 4-wicket haul (4-12) against the Rajasthan Royals.

11) Shivam Mavi was re-bought by KKR for a whopping INR 7.25 crores in the 2022 IPL auction
