Shaik Rashid, the vice-captain of the World Cup-winning Indian U-19 Cricket team, with his amazing performances, has caught the attention of all cricket fans across the world.

Rasheed, the 17-year-old boy from Guntur had to cross many hurdles to enter the Indian U-19 Cricket team.

So, here we have listed down 10 interesting facts about this talented batsman.

1) On 24 September 2004, Shaik Rasheed was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh in India.

2) At the age of 8, Rasheed started playing cricket and even received an award from VVS Laxman for his good performance in a domestic tournament

3) Rasheed’s father, seeing his son’s cricketing talent, decided to do everything possible for him to make sure his son gets proper cricket training

He even lost his private bank job to make sure that Rasheed gets proper cricket practice

4) His family had to shift from Guntur to Hyderabad as Rasheed got selected in the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Academy

5) His father had to face financial difficulties to provide expensive cricket equipment for his son.

But he didn’t let his son ever know about his financial problems.

6) Initially, playing for the Andhra U-14 and U-16 team, Shaik Rasheed performed poorly and was left out of the team

At that time, he thought about quitting cricket but his father motivated him to practice harder

7) Shaik, later on, gave great performances in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Challengers Trophy

In the Bangladesh Youth Tri-Series, he scored 155 runs in two matches including a century, and got selected as the vice-captain for the national U-19 side.

8) In ACC U19 Asia Cup 2021, Rasheed played a dominant role in helping India clinch the title

He played a crucial 90 runs knock against Bangladesh and scored a match-winning 31 runs against Sri Lanka in the finals.

9) In the semi-final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, Rasheed and captain Yash Dhull stitched a mammoth 204 runs partnership to help his team reach the finals.

10) The Indian vice-captain has registered for the IPL 2022 mega auction with a base price of INR 10 Lakhs
