Rovman Powell, the hard-hitting Jamaican cricketer, was recently bought by the Delhi Capitals in the 2022 IPL auctions.

Rovman, apart from his batting prowess, can bowl medium-pace and has represented West Indies in ODIs.

A valuable asset in the white-ball format, Delhi will have high hopes for him in IPL 2022

1) On 23 July 1993, Rovman Powell was born in Kingston, Jamaica

2) Powell made his List-A debut for the Combined Campuses against Guyana in the 2014–15 Regional Super50 tournament

He ended with figures of 3/20 and scored 31 runs, and was named the ‘Man of the match’

3) Powell made his first-class debut for Jamaica against Guyana in the 2015–16 Regional Four Day Competition

4) In the final two matches of the 2015–16 Regional Super50 tournament, Rovman Powell scored two half-centuries, 71 against the Windward Islands and 63 not out against Guyana

5) He played a crucial role for Jamaica in the 2016-17 Regional Super50 tournament, where his team managed to reach the finals

He smashed 95 runs from 45 balls (including 9 sixes and 6 fours) and picked 5-36 in the semi-final against Trinidad and Tobago, grabbing the man-of-the-match award.

6) He was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders team for the 2017 IPL for INR 30 lakhs.

In the same year, he was also selected by the Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2017 CPL player draft

7) In 2017, Powell made his ODI debut for West Indies against Sri Lanka and T20I debut against Pakistan.

8) Powell captained the West Indies when they toured Bangladesh in 2018

9) In 2019, Powell became the captain of Jamaica in the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament and was the leading run-getter for Jamaica in that tournament, with 412 runs in eight matches.

10) In April 2021, Powell was signed by Peshawar Zalmi for the 2021 PSL

11) In January 2022, Powell scored his first T20I century against England

He played a scintillating knock of 107 runs in just 53 balls.

12) In February 2022, he was bought for INR 2.80 crores by Delhi Capitals in the 2022 IPL auction
