6 Namibian Cricketers to Watch out for in 2022: The Ultimate List

Even though this Namibian cricket team was non-existent for nearly two decades, it is coming out of that stage which is great news for the cricketing world.

The current Namibian cricket team, is one of those associate cricket nations with a nice balance between experience and youth.

It has some big hitters, some classy all-rounders, and a couple of exciting spinners, making them a decent team, especially in the shorter format of the game.

Today, we have taken a look at the six Namibian cricketers that you must watch out for.

1) David Wiese

David Wiese, once an integral part of the South African T20I team, is probably the most experienced of all namibian cricketers

From 2021, he plays for the Namibian cricket team and currently, he is the vice-captain of the Namibian national team.

A right-hand batsman and a right-arm pacer, Wiese is a big-hitter of the cricket ball and can chip in with a few overs with his deceptive pace.

A T20 specialist, Wiese has played domestic T20 leagues worldwide. Wiese has played 10 ODIs and 31 T20Is, in which he has scored 219 runs and 339 runs and has taken 12 and 33 wickets respectively.

David has also scored 5,814 runs and picked 344 wickets in first-class cricket.

2) Gerhard Erasmus

Another Namibian cricketer to watch out for is the Namibian cricket team captain Gerhard Erasmus.

The 27-year-old Gerhard Erasmus is not only a good batter but is an effective off-spinner in the T20 format.

In 33 T20I matches, Erasmus has scored 804 runs with one century and six half-centuries. He has also picked 16 T20I wickets.

Erasmus has played 13 ODIs for his side and averages 41 in this format.

3) Bernard Scholtz

Bernard Scholtz, a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, is another Namibian cricketer to watch out for

He played for the Namibia under-19 team at the 2008 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia. He was the highest wicket-taker for Namibia in the 2017–18 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup.

He has so far played 14 ODIs and 31 T20Is for Namibia and has picked up 14 and 31 wickets in ODIs and T20Is respectively.

He has also picked up 235 wickets in first-class cricket and 121 wickets in his List-A career.

4) Ruben Trumpelmann

Ruben Trumpelmann, a right-handed batsman and a left-arm pacer, is another talented Namibian cricketer to watch out for

After making his international debut in October 2021, Trumpelmann has played 7 ODIs and 14 T20Is for Namibia and has picked up 10 T20I wickets.

He has also picked up 41 first-class wickets and 23 List-A wickets in his cricket career.

He is the only cricketer to pick three wickets in the first over of a T20I match.

5) Craig Williams

The oldest of all Namibian cricketers, Craig Williams, is the fulcrum of the Namibian national team.

Craig has played 15 ODIs and has scored 461 runs at an average of 35

He has played 31 T20Is and scored 666 runs with an average of 26.

He has also scored 6,484 runs in his first-class career at an average of 41.

6) Jan Frylinck

Jan Frylinck, a South African-born Namibian cricketer, is the leading wicket-taker for Namibia in the T20I format.

The left-arm pacer has played 30 T20Is for Namibia since 2019 and has picked up 45 T20I wickets in this format.

Frylinck has also played 15 ODIs and has picked up 21 ODI wickets.

He has also taken 97 first-class wickets and scored 1,571 first-class runs.
