1) On 14 December 1994, Kuldeep Yadav was born in a small village called Shiv Singh Khera in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh in India

2) From an early age, Kuldeep was interested in playing cricket

When Kuldeep was young, his family shifted from their native village to Kanpur so that he can fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer

3) His father was a brick-kiln owner and wanted his son to become an international cricketer

For that reason, he met cricket coach Kapil Pandey in Kanpur and enrolled Kuldeep in his academy

4) Kuldeep idolized Wasim Akram and always wanted to become a fast bowler like him

But, watching his physique, his coach advised him to become a spinner

The transition wasn’t easy for him but he soon realized bowling spin is the way forward.

5) After switching to spin bowling, his coach advised him to watch Shane Warne videos to perfect his techniques

It was only after watching Shane’s videos, Kuldeep got the encouragement to invest his time in spin bowling and Shane Warne became his role model

6) In 2009, Kuldeep thought of giving up cricket and even tried to commit suicide when he was not selected for the Uttar Pradesh’s U-15 team

7) In 2012, Kuldeep was in the Mumbai Indians squad, and even managed to fox Sachin Tendulkar with a googly in the nets

But still, he didn’t get the chance to play a game in the tournament.

8) In 2014, KKR’s scouting head AR Srikkanth spotted Kuldeep while he was playing in the Buchi Babu tournament in Chennai

Srikkanth convinced the then KKR coach Trevor Bayliss and KKR picked him in the 2014 IPL auction for INR 40 lacs

9) He played for the Indian U-19 cricket team in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he picked a hat-trick against Scotland.

He was a member of the Indian U-19 team that managed to win the 2012 U-19 World Cup, under the leadership of Unmukt Chand.

10) He made his debut for KKR in the 2014 Champions League T20 tournament and scalped 6 wickets from 5 matches to KKR reach the finals of that tournament

11) On 13 April 2016, Kuldeep made his IPL debut for KKR against the Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata

In this match, he picked his 1st IPL wicket in the form of Mitchell McCleneghan

12) On 25 March 2017, Kuldeep Yadav became the first left-arm wrist spinner to make his Test debut for India

On that day, replacing an injured Virat Kohli, he made his debut against Australia at Dharamsala and returned with figures of 4-68 in the first innings. David Warner was his first international Test scalp.

13) On 23 June 2017, Kuldeep Yadav made his ODI debut for India against the West Indies

In the following month, On 9 July 2017, Kuldeep made his T20I debut against the West Indies at Kingston. In this match, Chris Gayle became his first T20I victim.

14) On 21 September 2017, Kuldeep Yadav picked a hat-trick against Australia at Eden Gardens and became the third Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in ODIs after Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev.

15) On 3 July 2018, against England, Yadav took his first five-wicket haul in T20Is at the Old Trafford in Manchester

In that process, he became only the 3rd Indian after Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to pick a five-wicket haul in T20Is.

16) On 12 July 2018, Kuldeep Yadav grabbed his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs (6-25) and broke Shahid Afridi’s record by registering the best bowling figures by a spinner in an ODI in England.

17) On 6 October 2018, Yadav registered his first five-wicket haul in a Test match against the West Indies in Rajkot

On 6 January 2019, Kuldeep registered his second five-wicket haul (5/99) in Test matches against Australia at the SCG in his first Test match on the Australian soil

18) On 18 December 2019, against the West Indies, Kuldeep became the first Indian bowler to pick two hat-tricks in international cricket.

On 17 January 2020, Yadav became the fastest Indian spinner to pick 100 ODI wickets ( 58 innings )

19) Kuldeep loves watching football and supports the famous football club Barcelona in the club football matches
