Ishan Kishan is one of the most talented wicket-keeper batsmen circling the Indian domestic circuit.

Even though Risabh Pant is a regular member in the test format, the wicket-keeper batsman position is up for grabs in the limited-overs format

In the auction for IPL 2022, Ishan Kishan was bought for a whopping INR 15.25 crores by the Mumbai Indians.

1) On 18 July 1998, Ishan Kishan was born in Patna, Bihar in India

2) Son of a builder based in Patna, Ishaan initially wasn’t serious about cricket, but his elder brother Raj Kishan encouraged him to pursue cricket as a career option

3) At the age of seven, he captained his school in the School World Cup, that took place in Aligarh.

However, his team got knocked out in the super eight stages.

4) Ishan Kishan studied in Delhi Public School but was unable to maintain the balance between cricket and studies

He couldn’t balance both and had to give up school due to his attendance shortage.

5) In 2008, BCCI disaffiliated the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) led by Lalu Yadav

So, Kishan had to move from Patna to Ranchi to play cricket for the Jharkhand.

In Ranchi, he went for the U-19 trials and got picked straight away.

6) He was the captain of India in the 2016 U-19 World Cup and helped India end as the runners-up in that tournament

7) Just before the 2016 U-19 World Cup, Kishan got arrested for getting involved in a road accident

His car hit an autorickshaw in Patna, and the police booked him for reckless driving.

8) He was picked by the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL Auctions, but his stakes only rose after Mumbai Indians picked him for a whopping INR 6.2 crores in the 2018 IPL Auction.

9) Ishan Kishan holds the record for the highest individual score by a Jharkhand player in the Ranji Trophy

On 6 November 2016, Ishan Kishan, playing for Jharkhand, scored a magnificent 273 runs in a match against Delhi in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, which is the highest score by a Jharkhand player in Ranji matches.

10) Ishan was the highest run-scorer for Jharkhand in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, scoring 484 runs in six matches.

11) Ishan Kishan was also the leading run-scorer for Jharkhand in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 405 runs in nine matches

12) He was the leading run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in the 2020 IPL, scoring 516 runs from 14 matches

He managed to win the most sixes award in that season as his team clinched their 5th IPL title.

13) In February 2021, he scored a half-century ( 56 off 32 ) on his T20I debut match against England in Ahmedabad

On 18 July 2021, he also scored a half-century on his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo

14) Ishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for an unbelievable ₹15.25 crores amount in the 2022 IPL auction

With that, he became the second-most expensive Indian player at the IPL auction after Yuvraj Singh ( 16 crores )
