Devdutt Padikkal, the left-handed batsman from Karnataka, is one of the most exciting names in Indian domestic cricket

1) On 7 July 2000, Devdutt Padikkal was born in the town of Edappal in Kerala

2) At the age of 11, his parents moved to Bengaluru and got him admitted into the Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC) where he started his cricket training

3) From an early age, Devdutt was a huge fan of former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid

Coincidentally, both represented Karnataka and studied at St Joseph’s Boys school.

4) After 2014, Padikkal started representing Karnataka in under-16 and under-19 age categories

5) In 2017, playing for Bellary Tuskers in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL), Padikkal scored 72 off 53 balls against the Bengaluru Blasters and grabbed everyone’s attention

Devdutt Padikkal was also the 4th highest run-scorer in the 2018 Cooch Behar Trophy with 829 runs

6) On 28 November 2018, at the age of 18, Devdutt Padikkal made his first-class debut for Karnataka against Maharashtra in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy

In this match, Devdutt played a superb 77 run knock off 128 balls

7) In December 2018, in the player auction for the 2019 IPL, RCB bought Padikkal for INR 20 lacs

8) On 26 September 2019, he made his List-A debut for Karnataka against Jharkhand in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Padikkal was the leading run-scorer in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 609 runs from 11 matches

9) On 21 September 2020, Padikkal made his IPL debut for RCB against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai Cricket Stadium in Dubai

In this match, Devdutt scored 56 runs off 42 balls and helped RCB win the match by 10 runs

10) In the 2020 IPL, Devdutt Padikkal became the only player in IPL history to score three fifties in his first four IPL matches

Padikkal scored 473 runs in 15 matches in the 2020 IPL and managed to win the Emerging Player Award

11) On 22 April 2021, Padikkal scored his maiden IPL century ( 101 not out ) against Rajasthan Royals and managed to win the ‘Player of the match’ award

12) On 28 July 2021, Devdutt Padikkal made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka in Colombo

In his T20I debut, Padikkal scored 29 runs off 23 balls but Sri Lanka went on to win the match by four wickets

13) In the 2022 IPL auction, Rajasthan Royals bought Devdutt Padikkal for a whopping amount of 7.75 crores

14) In March 2022, Padikkal scored his maiden first-class century against Puducherry in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy

15) In April 2022, playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Devdutt Padikkal became the 3rd fastest Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina to complete 1,000 runs in IPL
