1) Established in 1958, this famous cricket stadium is the home venue of the Odisha cricket team.

2) One of the oldest cricket grounds in India, before hosting its first international cricket match, used to host several touring cricket teams

The MCC, the West Indies, and the Australian cricket team also played matches at this venue.

3) In January 1982, the Barabati Stadium hosted only the third ODI in India, in which India beat England by five wickets

4) In January 1987, the first test match at the Barabati Stadium was played between India and Sri Lanka

In this match, Dilip Vengsarkar scored his highest Test score of 166 runs at this venue

5) On 27 December 1984, Ravi Shastri became the first batsman to score the first ODI century on this ground

6) In January 1987, in this same test match, Kapil Dev dismissed Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Ratnayake to claim his 300th wicket in test cricket at this venue

7) In 1995–96, this stadium hosted its only other test match against New Zealand

In this match, Narendra Hirwani ended with figures of 6-59, the best bowling figure on this ground

8) On 9 April 1998, at the Barabati Stadium, Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja added 275 run partnership against Zimbabwe, the highest 4th wicket partnership in ODIs

9) In January 2017, India scored 381–6 against England on this ground, the highest ODI score at this venue

In this match, Yuvraj Singh scored 150 runs with the bat, his highest score in ODIs.

10) Barabati Stadium hosted ODI matches in the 1987 World Cup and 1996 World Cup.

This venue also hosted ODI matches during the 2013 Women’s World Cup.

11) This famous cricket Stadium has a 48,000 seating capacity and was the home ground for IPL team Deccan Chargers in the 2012 IPL
