Anuj Rawat, the left-handed wicket-keeper batsman from Delhi, is one of the most promising names in Indian domestic cricket.

While opening for RCB in this year’s IPL, Anuj has proved his worth and impressed cricket fans worldwide.

So, here we have listed down 10 interesting facts about Anuj Rawat

1) On 17 October 1999, Anuj Rawat was born in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand in India

2) Anuj’s father Vijendra Pal Singh is a farmer while his mother is a homemaker.

3) From an early age, Anuj used to train in a local cricket academy which was a few miles away from his home

Seeing his cricketing talent, his cricket coach Satish Pokhriyal advised his father to shift him to Delhi

4) So, at the age of 10, Rawat’s father moved to Delhi to fulfill Anuj’s dream of becoming a cricketer

In Delhi, despite mediocre income from farming, Rawat’s father took a rented apartment and got him admitted into the Bal Bhawan International School.

5) A few years later, Anuj joined the West Delhi Cricket Academy, run by Indian Rajkumar Sharma, the cricket coach of the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, and trained under him

6) On 6 October 2017, Anuj Rawat made his first-class debut for Delhi against Assam at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium ( now Arun Jaitley Stadium ) in Delhi

In this match, he scored 71 runs in the first inning and 13 runs in the second inning

7) On 21 February 2019, Anuj made his T20 debut for Delhi against Jharkhand in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

8) On 4 October 2019, Anuj Rawat made his List-A debut for Delhi against Baroda in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy

9) Rajasthan Royals bought him for INR 80 lacs in the 2020 IPL auction and he made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in the 2021 IPL

10) In the 2022 IPL auction, Anuj Rawat was bought by RCB for INR 3.4 crores

On 9 April 2022, Anuj Rawat scored 66 runs off 47 balls for RCB against Mumbai Indians and was adjudged as the ‘Man of the match’
